Founded on April 1, 1994, the Bangalore Neurological Society grew out of the informal "Neuro Club" that began in 1983. Today BNS is a vibrant community of over 400 members committed to advancing neurological science in Bangalore and beyond.

Dear BNS Members,

It gives me great pleasure as I take over as the 19th President of the prestigious Bangalore Neurological Society from June 2025.

Firstly, a big thank you to all the members for reposing this trust in me. I will do my best to prove worthy of this honour.

Many stalwarts in the field of Neuroscience have presided over this society and have contributed to building it to its present stature. It would be remiss of me to fail to mention the names of these illustrious luminaries in whose footsteps I follow: Dr. D.H. Deshpande (1994–95), Dr. B.S. Das (1995–96), Dr. K.K. Mandanna (1996–97), Dr. B.P. Mruthyunjayanna (1997–98), Dr. H.V. Srinivas (1998–99), Dr. S.K. Shankar (1999–2001), Dr. A.K. Roy (2001–03), Dr. K.V.R. Shastry (2001–03), Dr. R. Srinivasa (2005–07), Dr. A.S. Hegde (2007–09), Dr. P. Satishchandra (2009–11), Dr. Sudhir Pai (2011–13), Dr. G.T. Subhas (2013–15), Dr. B.A. Chandramouli (2015–17), Dr. P.T. Acharya (2017–19), Dr. Sampath (2019–21), Dr. J.B. Agadi (2021–23), and Dr. Shibu Pillai (2023–25).

I have big shoes to fill, particularly because seven of them have been my teachers.

The new team — President Elect Dr. Dwarakanath S, Hon. Secretary Dr. Raghunandan Nadig, Treasurer Dr. Nitesh Kambli, EC members Dr. Sathyanarayana LD, Dr. Arivazhagan A, Dr. Sujit Kumar and Dr. Shivakumar — looks forward to continued support from all members to continue existing programs and introduce new ones.

BNS has decided to grant ₹50,000 for research purposes to students and members, with provision for 6 such grants every year. Travel grants of ₹10,000 will also be given to deserving members.

Members are encouraged to make full use of these new initiatives and come forward with any new suggestions to further the education and research goals of BNS.

Thank you once again for bestowing this honour upon me. I request you to join me in taking our society to ever greater heights.
